About beauty training and licensing in New Zealand

How beauty training is organised

Hairdressing, barbering and beauty therapy are taught as New Zealand Qualifications Framework (NZQF) certificates and diplomas, for example the New Zealand Certificate in Beauty Therapy (Level 4) and the New Zealand Diploma in Beauty Therapy (Level 5), offered by private training establishments and public institutions such as Ara. NZQA evaluates private training establishments through external evaluation and review reports.
